Who is SP?

A man with a beard and afro hairstyle sitting on a patterned armchair holding a microphone. Behind him is a wall with words related to community, sustainability, and excellence. Part of a woman wearing green and sandals is visible to the side.

I am Sam “SP” Prewitt—award-winning media executive, dynamic on-air personality, motivational speaker, author, and passionate advocate for heart health and community empowerment.

Survivor. Media Executive. Connector.

Sam “SP” Prewitt is a 20+ year media veteran, community leader, and the voice of "King Cool" on Cleveland’s 93.1 WZAK. Currently serving as the Director of National Digital Partnerships for Urban One, he has spent his career connecting with audiences through music, culture, and conversation. But in 2015, the conversation changed.

On Memorial Day weekend, at just 29 years old, Sam suffered a massive heart attack—a wake-up call that stripped away his denial and forced him to face the silent killers of stress and family history. He didn't just survive; he rebuilt his life with a new purpose: to help others “Protect Your Heart and Everything In It.”

Today, Sam is a leading voice in the #HeartStrong movement. He serves on the board of the Greater Cleveland American Heart Association and its national Communications and Marketing Coordinating Committee. He blends this high-level expertise with his personal mission, using his platform to break the silence around men’s health and genetic risks.

A proud graduate of Ohio Dominican University and a native of Cleveland, OH, Sam lives his mission every day—whether he’s cycling through the city to promote active living, cherishing moments with his wife Alexis, or sharing his journey to help you save your own life.
