Who is SP?

A man with a beard and afro hairstyle sitting on a patterned armchair holding a microphone. Behind him is a wall with words related to community, sustainability, and excellence. Part of a woman wearing green and sandals is visible to the side.

I’m Sam “SP” Prewitt—award-winning media executive, dynamic on-air personality, motivational speaker, author, and passionate advocate for heart health and community empowerment.

Hailing from Warrensville Heights, Ohio, and a proud graduate of Ohio Dominican University, I began my radio journey behind the mic in college. Driven by passion and dedication, I quickly rose to become Operations Manager and On-Air Personality at RadiODU before joining Urban One, fulfilling a long-held career dream.

With over 21 years of experience, I now serve as Director of National Digital Partnerships for Urban One and Reach Media—guiding digital innovation, strategic partnerships, and revenue growth across 13 markets and 70 radio stations, alongside the Urban One Podcast Network and 86 syndicated Reach Media markets. You can also catch me as “King Cool” on-air weekends at 93.1 WZAK, where I play the best mix of hip-hop and R&B music, along with Cleveland news and hot topics.

My professional honors include Radio Ink’s Future African American Leaders in Radio (2024, 2025), induction into Who’s Who in Black Cleveland and Columbus, and a place among the inaugural “Forty Under Forty Emerging Legends” by the Black Professionals Association Charitable Foundation.

Everything changed at 29 when I survived a near-fatal heart attack—a journey that ignited my mission to champion heart health and inspire others with my #HeartStrong message. In 2026, I’ll share my story in my memoir, Plus More Life: A #HeartStrong Story, A Survivor’s Journey of Heart, Humor, Healing, and Health. In this book, I share how faith, humor, healing, and resilience have contributed to my personal transformation. By sharing my story, I hope you find the motivation you need to do the same.

Community is at the heart of everything I do. I’m honored to serve on the boards of the Greater Cleveland American Heart Association and Bike Cleveland, the National American Heart Association Communications and Marketing Committee, and to regularly volunteer with Slow Roll Cleveland. As a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. since 2006, I’m committed to service and leadership.

Beyond the studio and the boardroom, I love making new friends, cherishing moments with family, cycling, and traveling with my best friend and wife, Alexis.

Thank you for visiting—I look forward to connecting with you and sharing this journey.
